• Thank you Anneli. Yes! Critical thinking… Would love to hear more about how you think that oughta’ be learned! 🙂 Thank you!

  1. Loved your words describing, so evocatively, summer and our possible experience of it, as well as the speed with which we move towards September and the close of the year. I think that experiencing is part of being human. As is respect for everyone and their place here, and to care and love and be compassionate and understanding and non-judgemental. To embrace life and be courageous.

Interestingly, I have just started a book called The Humans ( It looks at humans from the point of view of a newly arrived alien. It’s darkly funny and a mirror held up to our being. A bit off topic to what you present here but still somehow related 🙂

    • Thank you Gail – it’s enriching to read others’ ideas of what it takes to be human. The novel you mentioned sounds intriguing – I just ordered it from the library (oh yes I did!). 🙂 Thanks again!

  2. Slow down
Pay close attention, see what is but do not judge
    Let go of the past
Don’t attach to plans or hopes for the future
    Be patient

(Respect some elders – not all of them have wisdom)

    • Thank you Marilyn for your list. Lovely to share! And for the discernment re: elders as well! Thank you!

  3. Hi Julia – I just came across your blog and am intrigued very much by this question. A few things that come to mind for me are: 1) Listen and 2) Connect.
